About the blog:
What is *approaching joy about?
Like I mentioned here, *approaching joy is a lifestyle blog that focuses on things that either make me smile, make me laugh, or make me think. I love blogs that offer a short break from the day to day accompanied with a smile and I hope that I can provide the same to my readers.
To be even more specifc, I generally blog about food, photography, my latest projects, my favorite blogs, and my thoughts on life along the way.
What is a "Joyster"?
A Joyster the lovely person who supports me (Paige) on all of my Approaching Joy adventures. They generally like to leave lovely comment, share laughs via Twitter, take peeks of my life via Instagram, and take part in the conversation happening on Facebook. Bascially, they are individuals who rock my socks and make this site the happy place that it is!!
Who reads *appraching joy?
Generally my readers are 20-45 year old women who are educated, intelligent, and insightful. Regardless of gender or age I imagine that my readers lead full lives but visit *approaching joy because they appreciate small beautiful moments that are accentuated by slightly irreverent humor. They are initially drawn to subjects that have elements of great design but stay because of the engaging conversional manner and the passion with which everything is presented.
And I'm so very thankful they stop by.
How often should I check back for a new post?
When this blog first began I challenged myself to post 100 words a day for the first 100 days. There were successfully 100 posts those first 100 days thanks to awesome friends who stepped in and guest posted for me when grad school got incredibly challenging.
At the moment, I'm in a transition period and trying to figure out my new blogging schedule. My goal is to bring something new to *approaching joy at least three times a week (sometimes sporadically) until I get a better idea of how I will fit this blog into my new life.
Is *approaching joy a money making machine?
In a word- no.
However, technically, I am a member of the Amazon Affiliate program which means that throughout my blog you may see links to products which you can buy on Amazon. By clicking (and eventually buying something) through these links I get a (small) percentage of the sale. Theoretically, these proceeds help support my happy hobby of blogging. (The biggest word there is "may" since I always seem to forget to link up through Amazon... hence the "no" answer above.)
Also, I don't have sponsors but would love to talk to you if you are interested in having your product, blog, or business featured on *approaching joy. As I mention on Twitter, I firmly believe that everyone's prettier when they share- I promise to share my hones opinion and you would get the benefit of sharing what you love with my readers.
About the design:
What font did you use for the header?
Ostrich Sans. Isn't it fun?
Did you use your own handwriting for the script buttons?
Nope. That is Susies Hand and I love it.
Where'd you get those (lovely) arrow buttons?
They were part of a brush set available over at Creature Comforts Blog.
Interested in all things lovely? Go check out the gorgeous-ness over at Creature Comforts.
And the picture frames?
They are part of the classic frames set and part of the Blog Bling kit available at Pugly Pixel. Interested in more blog design? Go check out Katrina at Pugly Pixel right now.
What about the pictures?
As I mentioned here, I generally take or make all the images on this site (unless I have an ::image credit:: link). If I have not (I mean occasionally a girl needs a break), I always try to get permission of the original owner before I post their material and ask that you do the same.
