I've never been the girl to fuss about what my wedding day will hold. In fact, call me superstitious, but it almost seemed like if I dared to dream about that day, it may never come true.
So it kind of surprised me when I gave myself permission to start dreaming about my wedding today. Yes, true story: almost a month after I got engaged I've finally started really thinking about how I want to do this thing.
Don't get me wrong- We've been planning almost since the moment I said "yes" but it was the very basics: who's coming + when and where will it be. Other than that... well, my closest friends will tell you, I hadn't really come up with much. They have been incredibly supportive in telling me to take my time and do it the way I want to do it, but even with their kind words I knew I would need to plunge in eventually. PLUS- we met with the photographers last night (more about them tomorrow!), and though we've had other planning appointments, that one made it real to me for some reason.
So guys, I've plunged.
Hair / Bouquet / Dress / Boutonnieres / Sign
We're getting married at Pratt Place Barn (which is an amazing venue here in Northwest Arkansas) at the end of October. I've realized that barn does mean "rustic" but "rustic" doesn't mean that it can't be "elegant" or "sassy"... yeah... I just used "sassy" to describe my wedding. I'm officially pretty pumped about that. And the end of October does mean "fall" but "fall" doesn't have to mean red + orange + yellow. I've also realized I like yellow-ish end of things because it keeps it lighter and fun.
Other things I've decide on once I let my imagination play:
*I heart ranunculus. My first thought was sunflowers but I like how ranunculus are like an off-beat/ funky rose. And hypernicum berries- they are the cutest little exclamation point.
*I'm down with burlap + galvanized steel decor (keeping it rustic) as long as I can soften it up with lace or a pretty font.
*Speaking of lace: I think that's the direction I was to go with my dress. All lace. Simple silhouette. Slightly sexy but not too terribly revealing.
*Hair down and soft and awesome.
*I like having a hand-made feel but I refuse to be puttng together anything the night before the ceremony. "Low stress & lovely" is the name of this game.
There are lots of other thoughts buzzing around but those are the main ones that have floated to the top a few times so far. Once these thoughts and Pinterest boards start becoming more of a reality I will update you guys.
p.s. Pinterest!! I haven't shared my Pinterest!!!
That link above is to my main Pinterest page, this the current board I'm using, this is the board where I'm stashing invite/ paper pretties, and this is the board I had been adding stuff to haphazardly/ half-heartedly until today. Go visit and let me know what you think. And while you're commenting let me know if I'm the only weirdo (too superstitious) non-dreamer out there.
Also- I'm over at NWA MotherLode today talking about beachwear & the dreaded cover-up dilema- hop on over to NWAmotherlode.com for that and other amazing stuff for moms! If you're here after clicking over from my post: Welcome! I'm glad that you're here!
